Day 14: Feb 27th, 2011 – Yoga for Oneness

Yoga is about clearing away whatever is in us that prevents our living in the most full and whole way. With yoga, we become aware of how and where we are restricted — in body, mind, and heart — and how gradually to open and release these blockages. As these blockages are cleared, our energy is freed. We start to feel more harmonious, more at one with ourselves. Our lives begin to flow — or we begin to flow more in our lives. ~Cybele Tomlinso

My gift for day 14: Offering my Yoga practice to God

These days my intention has been to “flow” with the day to see where it takes me.  If something doesn’t go as planned, I take a deep breath and remind myself to be like water and “flow”.  Yesterday this flow took me and my mat to a park by the East River in Brooklyn.

When I arrived at the park, I found a perfect spot facing the water.  I rolled out my mat and practiced my yoga routine for 75 minutes.  At first, I felt aware of the curious eyes watching my practice.  I realized that I was allowing this to take me out of my yoga.  I reminded myself of my intention which was to offer my practice to God.  I took a deep breath and continued my yoga.

There was a point while I was practicing a high lunge and my gaze was lifted that I noticed the brilliant sky.  It was so beautiful.  It took my breath away.  I held my pose, held my gaze, and I allowed myself to be present.  Before I knew it, everything melted away into the background and I was One.

Namaste.

My gift today:  The Ganesha Mantra:  Also known as “the Remover of Obstacles”.
