The Beach Has Been Calling Me…

20120713-132226.jpg

Time: 1:00pm Location: Coney Island Beach The beach has been calling me for weeks and here I am with my toes still wet from swimming in the water a few minutes ago. I honestly do not remember the last time I swam in these waters. Many childhood memories are playing back in my mind. Feels sort of like a slide show as different scenes flash by me... Mostly being here reminds me of family, of being with my family and growing up on this beach. Wow, so much has changed... I look out to the sea and remember seeing this same vista with the eyes of a little girl. For that moment, I am … [Read more...]

Manana, I’ll do it manana…

papi and me 60th

I knew one day I'd muster up the courage to dig deep and share this story... When I was a little girl, I learned a song by Johnny Albino called Mañana.  The first few verses of this song are: "Mañana, Siempre me dices mañana. Por que ha de ser mañana se hoy es que vivo yo," which means, "Tomorrow, you always tell me tomorrow.  But why does it have to be tomorrow, if today is when I live." This wasn't the only song I knew, but for some strange reason my dad and his friends were so taken that a little girl knew the words of such a grown up song, that they would often ask me to sing … [Read more...]

"Always remember to be happy because you never know who's falling in love with your smile."  ~Author Unknown   Day 29:  My sister and I honored women on the streets of Brooklyn and NYC.  It was a perfect way to celebrate our 29th day of kindness... Thank you everyone for all of your love, support, encouragement, and advice during this past month.  This has been an experience I will never forget.  Moving forward I intend to be mindful of being kind, of being love, and of being light. May God bless you all abundantly with perfect love, health, wealth, and self … [Read more...]

Day 28: March 13th, 2011 – Being Light

"There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again." Elizabeth Lawrence Day 28:  Yoga and Being Light: It was my turn again to teach my 75 minute class.  Instead of over preparing like the last time, I focused on having fun and really truly being in the moment with my piers.  The result was a much stronger class.  The feedback from my piers was positive. Namaste! Feeling the magic of being light and sharing laughter with others... What a blessing! My gift of music: Somewhere Over … [Read more...]

Day 26: March 11th, 2011 – A day of Prayer

“I guess when your heart gets broken you sort of start to see cracks in everything. I'm convinced that tragedy wants to harden us and our mission is never to let it.” unknown Day 26: A day of Prayer The call from my sister woke me out of bed.  Her first words.... "That man was right in his prediction of a big earthquake.  Japan has just experienced a big one." As I heard these words, my heart sank. Japan has experienced one of the biggest earthquakes in recorded history.  The amount of destruction and lives lost is immeasurable.  I spent the day along with many others glued … [Read more...]

Day 25: March 10th, 2011- The Law of Attraction…

"Remember, whatever you focus upon, increases...When you focus on the things you need, you'll find those needs increasing. If you concentrate your thoughts on what you don't have, you will soon be concentrating on other things that you had forgotten you don't have-and feel worse! If you set your mind on loss, you are more likely to lose...But a grateful perspective brings happiness and abundance into a person's life." Andy Andrews Day 25:  Birthdays and Law of Attraction: It wasn't the prettiest day in NYC... It was cold, windy, and rainy, but it was one of the most magical … [Read more...]

Slowing down has changed my life, living in gratitude has set me free

daddy and me10

My dad's passing on November 10th, 2009 had a monumental impact on me.  What do you do when the only person in this world who "sees" you is gone? I felt lost, abandoned, and scared.  Despite being blessed to have so many loving people around me, during those moments, I felt like my life had lost its purpose.  I realized that many of the things that I did and wanted to do were connected to my father. While there was definitely a part of me that wanted to run, hide, and even die, the other part of me knew this thinking wouldn't serve me or his … [Read more...]

Day 22: March 7th, 2011 – God’s Will…

I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land." ~Martin Luther King Day 22:  God's Will I shared part of my day with my beautiful sister.  We did Yoga in the morning and then we went to our favorite cafe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  We spoke of our plans, our hopes, and our dreams.  We spoke of how we want to continue growing and learning. We want to do "God's will.  … [Read more...]
